PLAZA NUEVA

 This important square is the beggining of our beautiful route.
You can acess the neighbourhood of the Albaycín from here or by Darro River's career and the streets leading to the boiler.
It's surounded by several important buildings, such as the Court Top of Andalusia (the first reinaissance building of Europe) or the Pisa House, and it's very close locatedn to Elvira street, from which you can raise the Albaycín also.

Plaza Nueva was (and is) one of the most important points of the city and also bullfights were run.

SANTA ANA SQUARE

Santa Ana square's a small square next to Plaza Nueva.
It's located at the foot of the historic neighborhood of the Almanzora just opposite the San Gil Church and Santa Ana at the beginning of the Carrera del Darro.

PASEO DE LOS TRISTES

It's known by this name because it was the place where they spent the
path of the cemetery funeral processions.
 
It was made, in 1609, and still, there are remains of a little tower, and you can see  the arms of Granada and the high bridge of the Clarions on its front. The fountain that occupies the center of the Paseo de los Tristes was made in 1609.
 
 

ALJIBILLO BRIDGE

The original bridge was from the Arabic time, XI century.
It was built on the runway of the Darro, by order of by Zawi Ibn Ziri, the same who ordered the construction of the wall of the Albayzín.

CUESTA DE LOS CHINOS O DEL REY CHICO

 It's one of the pedestrian access to the Alhambra and the Generalife which communicates with the center of Granada and the Albaicin, from the Paseo de los Tristes.
It has been popularly known by the people of Granada because through here Boabdil fled to the Albaicin.
It's also known as Cuesta de los Muertos since it was the old road to the cemetery, or the best known Cuesta de los Chinos, because of the small stones in Granada.


ALHAMBRA

We finish our fantastic route once we reach the Alhambra. The Alhambra was used as a fortress and as a Palace. It was like a "small city".
The first Nasrid kings set their residence here and Catholic kings conquered it in 1492. 

The Alhambra is composed by:
-The Nasrid palaces  
- the Palace of Charles V (This palace was built after the conquer of the Catholic Kings) 
 - the Kasbah   
- Royal Cemetery
